The Father of RAP : Snoop Dogg

To me, Snoop Doggy Dogg is the father of rap because of all the effort he has put in for Hip-Hop. Until now, still nobody has a flow like his, Unique and Funky style as his trademark. He is now a millionaire with his wife and 3 kids. He made a living from the streets in Long Beach, California as a Crips gang member.

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr or also known by his stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg, changed to Snoop Lion when he headed to Jamaica in early 2013. He started a Rastafari Movement and changed his name, made a reggae album and then also made a documentary, both the documentary and the reggae album was called Reincarnated. But now he is still in the excavation site producing a new solo studio album under his rap moniker Snoop Dogg.

Heading back to the early days,  when he first started his career and how. He started in 1992 as Dr. Dre discovered him and they collaborated in Dr Dre's first album The Chronic (1992). By 1993, Snoop Dogg had released his first album Doggystyle under Death Row Records and also got debuted #1 on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, selling almost a million copies in the first week, Doggystyle became certified 4x Platinum in 1994 with hit singles like "Gin & Juice". Moving on, he has also starred in motion pictures and hosted several television shows including, Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, Snoop Dogg's Father Hood and Dogg After Dark. Snoop Dogg was also part of a rap group called Tha Dogg Pound featuring Kurupt, Daz Dillinger and Snoop Dogg himself. This all came from D.P.G.C (Dogg Pound Gangsta Crips), a group of all the 90's to 99's rapper in the West Coast.

Now let's get on to why i think he's the Father of Rap. Started as a rapper but he has acted, has his own supermarket in the LBC, made his own G-pen Herbal Vaporizor, Plants he's own weed probably, he and Dr Dre in 2001 during the concert "Up In Smoke" they fought for the rights to let the fans in the concert smoke Marijuana and they manage to do it. No one in the Rap industry to me has done this much of things for the rap industry itself. He made a movement but not like every rapper doing a movement and making people listen he did things. He is one of the people who brought the West Coast to where it is now.

Rap is no different than Poetry.

To me there is no difference in rapping and also people doing poetic slams. It can be two separate events but rap doesn't have to mean its all about gangsters, overload of money, getting hoes, etc. I love rapping, It became  a passion after knowing so much about most of the rapper's life stories or the way they rhyme things up.

So i then became a writer myself, it was hard but i got to it and now it feels like i don't wanna stop writing. the way you wanna think of how to rhyme the words. I have a sample to show you that there is no difference and my rap which already has a Hip-Hop beat with it doesn't have to be about any of those topics i stated above.

"...Why did we even have to ignite?
The world has come against us,
                                                    Accompanied by many races,
Humans don't even know their places,
The 5-0's motto is "Chase Us" ,
Young or old let's change our paces,
I'm not just a man, owh yes i have a plan,
To change the reason why money is grand,
Wish me good luck for that, Amen.
Owh wait...It's too late, I'm sorry,
But even Superman can't stop the government,
We'll have no choice but to join them.              "

Thats what i think and write about when i rap cause it's true facts. You gotta start understanding what we mean in the raps rather than just listening to the beat. I'll be explaining what that passage above meant on my next post and if you wanna know more on the difference between poetry and rap then watch the video by TEDxAldeburgh on Hip-Hop or Shakespeare?

Notorious B.I.G

The Notorious B.I.G or also known as Biggie Smalls, is an American rapper from the streets of Brooklyn, New York City. He's real name, Christopher George Latore Wallace. He lived with he's mum, a single mum with no spouse. growing up in the hoods was rough for young Chris, and how far can a mother go till she see's her son do the wrongs. So by the age of 16, Chris was already selling crack, hustling on the streets and skipping school just to keep it cool. He went to jail for selling crack on the streets of Brooklyn and when he came back out he finally could meet his daughter and stopped selling till he met he's friends again.

Since young, Biggie has loved rapping and has a big passion towards it. he used to create he's own raps so he could freestyle in the streets. One day he caught eyes with another freestyler and they had a freestyle rap battle instantly. He won the crowds attention and then won the battle. He was then known as Biggie Smalls. After that mini rap battle that happened in the streets, record labels in Brooklyn heard about it. Then came Sean John Combs, also known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy. He was the owner of the record label Bad Boy. Biggie met him in Puff's office, he then asked if Biggie had been selling any drugs on the street. As Biggie was, he then told him to leave. But Biggie knew he couldn't last long on the streets sellin' drugs so he then stopped selling also because of his sick mum who had cancer. So he came back clean and was ready to sell, but what also happened was after he came out of jail he started selling again and almost got caught again. He's crew mate took the blame for him so he would have the chance to get out of the block and be a different person rather than a hustler.

Biggie hit the studio ready to do a hit then realised that Puff had ask him to cover a song that was R&B. He immediately thought he was getting insulted as he's crew members were also laughing at the back hearing what Puff was asking him to do. But they both knew that if it was rap and R&B, people would start listening to it and they would get alot of money. They had to be smart to get ahead of the game as this is East Coast time to shine out of the ground. The hit was a smash record and they have made it. "Juicy" was about his life from pour to rich and somehow touched the whole world with the rhyming and tempo he gave. till now nobody has a rhyming flow as good as The Notorious B.I.G, since then he made singles and more collaborating and also having a group called "Junior M.A.F.I.A" and making over 17 million sales. But as growing up in the streets as thugs he had alot of enemies and during the war with him and Tupac that caused The whole West side and the whole East side to collide in fights.
Gunning each other down or worst. Then came March 9, 1997 Biggie Smalls had died in Los Angeles, California where The West side players were living. He was there on vacation then on one night got shot 7 times in a drive-by assasination. He died on the spot and the whole Brooklyn couldn't bear the pain of losing a intelligent person who has done so much for the place he was born in.

Makevali the Don

Also known as Makevali the Don. The name influenced by Niccolo Machiavelli who was a Italian war strategist who tricked his enemies into faking he's own death and then coming back 18 years later. Few months before legendary Tupac died, He had announced to the world that he has changed his name to Makevali the Don. As he did that, he then got shot months later on the 7th of September, 1996.

So everyone is figuring out why was Tupac's name finally changed and was followed by the famous war strategist Niccolo itself. On September 7, 1996. Tupac was at a boxing match featuring Mike Tyson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He then saw a member of the notorious crime group called "Crips" who recently beat up one of the Death Row members. Death Row was the record label that Tupac was in during his successful days, with a million+ sales on the song California Love featuring Dr. Dre who is 1 of the survivors who lasted the street war that is still happening between "Bloods" and "Crips". Which makes Dr. Dre and OG (Original Gangster) you get the title "OG" once you have lasted long enough in the hood.

After the fight ended by Tupac beating down the member. He then left to go home after a good night drinking in Las Vegas. While in the car, no one till now still can't tell why Tupac was with no bodyguards on the way back that night. When they were at a certain traffic light in the town of Las Vegas, a car suddenly pulled over beside Tupac's and starting firing bullets that penetrated the car and into 7 different bullet holes to the major artist Tupac Amaru Shakur.

Suge Knight, the driver in the car that Tupac was in starting driving recklessly due to the drive-by shooting and then stopped in the middle of the road. Cops then came and treated them like they were on the wrong side. As they found out that it was the rapper Tupac who has been shot 7 times, a helicopter immediately came 15 minutes later and picked up the rapper. After 6 days, Tupac finally died due to the news reporters. probably a day later, the media reported a picture of Tupac's after autopsy. But ever since then there has been problems on people from around the world especially the people from Cuba (where Tupac's auntie ran to when she was running from the cops) saying that they have seen Tupac alive...is he is Cuba ?

The birth of Gangster Rap

The Birth of Gangster Rap in Compton...

Well as many people know that most of the Multi-Platinum Artist/Rappers who had made it on tours around the world were mostly on death row due to the harsh vocabulary being used in opposite sides during their recordings for songs. But nobody actually understood the struggle they were in to make them be the most notorious street thugs and some even drug lords.

They were put in a place to live by themselves, having no one accept them when they went for job offers due to the disgust of black people ( Humans have no difference just because of the colour) . So they have to move on someone, and that let them to selling drugs, hustling, affiliating with gangs ( MS-13, Crips, Bloods, Piru's, etc.) and even wanting to live in jail because of the crime rate that is about 60 percent.

But something was different about the people in Compton, They dicided to fight back this massive effect to the culture over there. Back in the year 1989..or back in the N.W.A days as they say, was the start of N.W.A itself, consisting Compton's own Eazy-E, MC Ren, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and DJ Yella. N.W.A (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) was the birth of Gangsta Rap in Compton and infact in the world itself. Pulling off the craziest moves that are now thanks to them Hip-Hop itself.
